About me

As a doctor and specialist in cardiology and lifestyle medicine, I believe that everyone can experience better health, improved wellbeing and deeper meaning in their lives. My goal is to help people to live life on purpose.

My experience

I’ve learnt a lot from life as a doctor, husband, father and human being. I’ve been a GP for over 20 years, including 10 years of specialising in cardiovascular and lifestyle medicine and providing clinical advice on wellbeing and prevention for various organisations across the UK. I am proud to work for the NHS and spend most of my time looking after patients in my GP surgery. I am also involved in medical education, appraisal and mentoring and commissioning health services for patients.

Keeping it real

Over the past 5 years I have developed a lifestyle-medicine practice including consulting, blogging, podcasting and writing for medical journals and the press. My first book, Fit for Purpose, was published by Harper Inspire in April 2021.

My approach is a pragmatic one, taking the principles of lifestyle medicine and keeping it simple, practical and relevant to each individual. There’s a lot of confusing information out there, with wellbeing “experts” going into great detail about very small areas of specialisation. This can be hard if not impossible to integrate into every day real life. I give advice not from an ivory tower but as working NHS doctor facing many of the same day to day challenges as everyone else.

Whether you need to make changes to improve your wellbeing, or want to develop a practice to help others, my mission is to make it as easy as possible for you to succeed in living life better.
